Canon G1x iii Wandering Focus Frame

This is an issue that's been plaguing me for what seems like forever. I "always" have the focus frame set as small and centered. You can move the frame one of two ways, dragging on the LCD screen (it's always active for moving) or touching the AF frame selector button and moving it with the Control Dial. When it's where you want it, touch the Set button. Or you can return it to the center by touching the "Menu" button. My issue is that when raising the camera and looking through the viewfinder, often, I find the frame has moved and I figure I'm probably the one to blame for this but ... I'd like to be able to take away the "LCD dragging mode" or find a way to freeze the frame location. I've been through the manual and can't find anything remotely addressing the issue. Has anyone encountered this and found a way to avoid it? It's definitely a nuisance when you bring the camera up and have to search for the focus frame when you just set it to the center. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.....

Is the touch screen active such that when you raise the camera you're inadvertently toughing the screen and repositioning the AF?

Look at the manual for changing the touch screen sensitivity and / or locking and unlocking with the external controls on the camera. You may have to experience for the setting / option that works best for you.

Paul, that's actually it and the fix offered by Canon, "Turn off the touch screen."
I talked to a Canon support rep a few minutes ago, who had the same issue with her EOS R. Not only has she had the issue, but Canon has received a number of calls from the "R" mirrorless owners siting same.
As long as the touch screen is turned on, the AF frame can move freely and does when a cheek tells it where to go.

And the wife said "Now you are awake take this paperwork to the clinic and go through KFC's drive thru for dinner." I was also going through the bank machine since the lawn guy got most of our cash-on-hand. But...

Oh, well if I had remembered I would have missed the first Black Headed Grosbeak of this spring in the yard. Got home, walked back to the family room where I have my computer and camera kingdom - looked out the door and there it was front and center in the sunlight chowing down with the sparrows, finches and doves. When I tried to sneak to the camera on a tripod by the door it flew. So I sat down by the door with my 7DII and 100-400L and watched while my food got cold. It came back and I got a couple of frames-of it in a heavy shadow of a potted dwarf orange tree. BUT I SAW IT AND GOT SOMETHING!
