I used to make albums every Christmas for the kids of the grandkids. I'd put 100 pics not necessarily the best but more a chronology of the year. They were always a big hit. I have also always made an album of about a 100 pics of each vacation we have taken. Again, not always the best but more an overview of the trip though I do edit them and try for quality. Unfortunately, no trips lately but hoping it will be better soon. Maybe this summer!

Photography is part of the job so considering, i'm a paid photographer. But i'm using it for our inhouse adverts so technically not selling the prints. For products, shoot about 4-5 each and use 1 so 20% ish? They are mostly edited and collaged plus a lot of reference photos that are only digitally kept, so that would end up 1-2% of the photos going to print....maybe even less.
Some of those go into flyers and are sometimes re-used. So very few photos get to print but thousand copies.

Personally, almost none. I've sent to photo print only 1 photo since 2003.
They are all digitally viewed now.

I keep more than most folks, because I use the "failures" for myself and for teaching, and because many of them record things that I want to keep track of, even if it is just something that I want to return and take another stab at.

Right now, I'm sure that I print less than most folks, because I've been "between printers" ever since my really nice oversize 8 color HP printer failed a couple of years ago. That means that anything that gets printed gets taken to Coupralux near downtown Dallas, which is both quite a trip and quite an expense. So making the cut to be printed right now means meeting a pretty high bar. On top of that, not a lot of new material is entering the queue.

I'll not buy another HP printer, because of the "Service Stall" error that put me out of business on the old one, but I also haven't found anything new yet that I like as well.

Canon TS6350. Really great 3 in one. I've had Epson and HP but never again.

I print my photos. Usually 5x7and 8x10. Frame them in dollar store frames and change them on a whim. I may print 1 percent of my total photos taken if that. I have a lot of photos that I like but really don't print that many and using Precision Color for ink it is very affordable.

Quick reply: 8x10 is my choice... to be practical, it is the standard/popular paper size [OK,8.5x11].
So I agree with Dr. Bob for the most part.

I am confused that the small photo specials at the drugstore, at times only 5 cents, are 4x6! Unless you use a program to add an inch of blank the machines will crop your well-structured 8x10 aspect ratio. 4x5 would be great and for Dr. Bob 5x7. Why 4x6???

I am amazed by the people who print huge prints... how many of those can you put on your living room wall? Few.
8x10 Many.

I have found that I like using my leftover floor laminate, sawed to the 8x10 aspect but a bit smaller dictated by the laminate. The On-1 Resize has a wrap program built-in which I use to curl the photo around to the back [spay adhesive on surfaces... Then to stand out from the wall two 3/4" blocks at the top and one at the bottom. Remember 3 leg stools do not rock. Standing out from the wall gives a rich look. The blocks are low coast on eBay. Laminate is very flat and the finished surface behind and the photo on the backside give humidity stability and in general, the laminate does not warp.

I probably print 5% for personal use, 7 hanging in the house and 30+ for gifts and fulfilling requests.

If I get one keeper to print out of 3000-7000 shots I consider myself lucky.

I LOVE huge prints, and I own a 42" Epson that I bought at auction for less than peanuts. The down side is what does one do with them; some are truly lovely scenes - most are landscapes, a few are air-to-air airplane shots or storms.
All I can do is change them around once in a while. I'm not a pro, and I don't want to work at it and turn an enjoyable do-it-when-you-feel-like-it hobby to a grinding must do chore. I've been retired since age 65, now more than twenty years, and photography as a hobby keeps me sane.
As to percentage of shots printed, its tiny. Many or perhaps most of the keepers have gone through time consuming PP, usually in Adobe LR or previously PS.

Have no Idea of the percentage. I print more of one photo trying to tweak it just right. I calibrate my monitor & they come out close enough where most would be satisfied but, sometimes I get anal retentive with it.

I quit doing my own printing 15 yrs ago, for me it was / is cheaper to have them printed. I used to use a local shop but they went out of business, my last 16X24 I had done at Bayphoto I thought they did a great job and were reasonably priced.

I too use the Dollar store frames. They work well for hanging mine on the wall.

Visited my Mother 15 years ago, She had a took the advice of a computer repairman (Geek) that told her that her computer was to old, she sat it in the corner and put all her pictures on it and set it to slideshow. She was born in 1919 and now in a nursing home, computer retired and a new one with a 4T hard drive and Myself or my Son goes by to see her and update the pics weekly. It is such a blessing to her to set and watch her pictures (Life) go by.
Remember this when you hear of a elderly person in a nursing home, albums are bulky

Things have changed. I venture to say that most photos for display now appear in the little monitor of a cellular telephone. Photos now have their life therein. Thankfully, however, digital means of photography have made photos ubiquitous.
