Thanks. Yes, I had cropped and re-cropped ad infinitum, but this ended up appealing to me the most.

The one that appeals to you most is the image you should present! Nice work...

While perusing some of my photos I came across this shot and decided to re-process it. My original thought on this was “Window in the Forest” so that is how I composed it. I hope you like it too.

Nice photo! I had read about the falls, but it was still the but it was still the biggest surprise of our 2012 visit to Yellowstone.

It is gorgeous! I'll be visiting it today or tomorrow...between showers. Four inches of snow yesterday morning!

We were there starting May 31 2012 and went from Spearfish SD after visiting Mt. Rushmore. The road into Yellowstone was closed about every other day due to snow and we made it in on an open day. That was a good thing, as we had a reservation at the Lake Yellowstone Hotel.

We have stayed at many of the park lodging spots and the Lake Hotel was a treat and a great place to dine. In 2017 we started staying in Gardiner because of it's convenience to Lamar Valley. We stayed at the Yellowstone Gateway Inn a couple times, a truly great facility and in 2019 we started using the Yellowstone Archway Guesthouse and here we are again! We have had family visit both times and it is one of the nicest places we have ever stayed in. Check their website and you'll understand why! BTW, we know all about road closures!

No more summer visits...May and October is it!

That looks like a great place to stay, but we are likely to only need a place for my wife and I. I'm not sure when we'll get back to Yellowstone, as a return to Glacier is next on our list and we have tentative plans for other places over the next 5 years or so. We plan to stay at the Many Glacier Hotel the next time we go to Glacier, and will probably do as we did before, combining it with a visit to the Canadian Rockies. We stayed in Whitefish on our previous visit to Glacier. I can only go during the summer as long as I continue to teach (my part time "retirement job" at a local university), but that shouldn't be an issue by the time I'm ready for a return visit to Yellowstone. One of the issues I had with the cold, is that I have high performance summer tires on my car and they are not recommended for temperatures below 45F, as they have less grip when it's cold. I could take one of the other cars though.

So many places, so little time.

We'll do small northeast trips and then the Everglades and Corkscrew in Feb.

I've had a fall colors trip planned for as soon as I fully retire. My plan is to go from Boston to the Canadian border, then back to Boston via Stowe and the Kancamagus Highway. We're spending a month in Europe in 2022, with a 2 week cruise from Barcelona to Venice and a week on the Rhine from Basel to Amsterdam, plus pre- and post-cruise extensions. I think we're going to add a couple of weeks to that trip as well. I'm planning a 3 week drive around NZ and a couple of weeks in Australia (different trips) and a couple of more trips to Europe over the next ~4 years as well as at least a couple of cruises. Also, we go to Hawaii almost every year, though we're going 3 times in the next 8 months. We also do local trips, living so close to the Napa & Sonoma Valleys, the Monterey Peninsula, Yosemite and Lake Tahoe.

BTW, what is "Corkscrew"? All I think of when I hear the word corkscrew is the the world-famous Corkscrew (turns 8/8A) at Laguna Seca Raceway (where I usually go about twice a year).

You're a lot more active then we are and we prefer to travel the US, though it sounds great!

Check out Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary in the Naples, Fl area. There are many opportunities in that part of Florida including the Burrowing Owls of Cape Coral and the Everglades.

Safe travels!

Thank you all. It’s been over a month since I posted that shot. Glad to see it still catching people’s eyes. Meanwhile, I have this shot of a Big Buff that posed in the middle of his wallow for me. Taken from the roadway of course, I keep my distance from wild animals unlike some who just have to get that closeup selfie.
