Every year at the State Fair of Texas (pre-pandemic), there is a guy who has the same talent with a chain saw. Each show is about 1/2 hour during which he turns a stump of wood into a masterpiece. Here's some of the pics we shot of the chainsaw guy. The screening is to protect the audience from flying wood chips. And, oh, by the way, all his work there is for sale. If you look closely at the stump of the old bearded guy (possibly Methuselah), you'll see a $200. price tag. Dunno how a fair goer would carry this back to his car at Fair Park, Dallas.

Every year (except for last year and again this year due to the Pandemic) there is a community about 40 miles from me that holds an annual "Chainsaw Rendezvous" where chainsaw carvers from several different state gather and display carvings and demonstrate their skills. I have several photos from a couple years ago showing some exceptionally beautiful and artistic pieces. Some of them sell for several hundred dollars.

I have also seen chainsaws used to carve ice sculptures. They don't last as long as the wooden carvings though.
