I found it! The secret to getting close to Wood Ducks; to filling the frame. Chance encounter mid morning, when I usually don't get out. There by the pond were several moms with toddlers feeding pond ducks. I figured they were tossing day old bread (which I've never seen them eat). But Cheerios! Toddlers tossing Cheerios was the trick. In the midst of the gathered feeding menagerie was a pair of wood ducks. I couldn't tell if they were actually nibbling the little O's or if they had some FOMO going on as the Wood Duck drake chasing away other ducks.
