I know we have number crunchers here in the Attic.
To me the death rate compared to other diseases does not seem that bad.

Comparisons between this one and any one before the 1950's is not valid because of modern medical therapies. These comparisons are a waste of time

Well its behind the swine flu.
A calculation should be done to average the yearly death rate of AIDS

The swine flu had no treatment modalities waiting in the wings.

Medical science has come a long way since then.

For c***d, we have had the benefits of scientific advancement...folks already studying various c****a v***ses...we got a bit of an advanced drop on treatment drugs and v*****es that the country could not benefit from with prior epidemics.

We should feel a little blessed in spite of the 560k and growing USA casualties.

If we had the same capabilities and knowledge we had 20 or 30 or 100 hundred years ago...who knows what our casualty count would be...

I have divided 23,600,000 by 40.
AIDS deaths has averaged 590,000 per year

That’s the low end AIDS on average has k**led far more people than C***D.
Why not the draconian measures for AIDS.

Apples and oranges. Over 550,000 dead. THAT is the statistic that counts.

AIDS is not spread through the air by asymptomatic carriers.

Yes, but Trump would have been too young to blame then.

The post I was replying to asked why not the draconian measures for AIDS like we did with C***d. Masks and distancing and shutting things down would not have stopped AIDS.

I got her point fully yours as well. She had a darn good point
I saw something where someone who knew he had it was having unprotected sex. Why didnt we isolate people who were HIV positive.
That is if they truly cared about us
