Shoot the 600 G2 with the Nikon D850 with great results with dragonflies & butterflies. Seldom when shooting do I have the convenience to get close enough with a macro.
Great capture!!!....Vic

Jerry, pretty cool shot. There’s one disadvantage of photographing creepy crawlies with a macro lens... You are much closer and almost on top of them. If you’re squeamish at all, especially considering that your spider subject is a jumper, the long zoom is more comfortable.

Good catch,

Bob

Thank you. I've got several what I consider really good pictures of flying insects with the 600 G2 and the D7200.

Good catch,

Thanks Bob. I'm not squeamish of most little critters.

When I visit the local State Conservation Area I always take my Tamron 150-600mm lens but yesterday I was wishing I had my macro lens with me. But then again I've already got a good macro shot of a jumper exactly like this one so it was nice to see that the 150-600mm produced an acceptable shot of such a small subject.

It's just my opinion, but I think the arachnid would stand out more if you did some cropping. Other than that, it is a very good image, Jerry.

Thank you. I could have cropped more but I got a picture of the same spider the next day with my macro lens and that image is very up close and personal.

Thank you. There was another jumping spider there but not the same species.

For whatever reason, when I saw the spider an image of Chewy popped in my head! ("Get that walking carpet out of my way.")

I'm not familiar with Chewy so I'm lost.
