Absolutely right, kpmac, NOLA's tax base is rapidly shrinking as folks pour out of NOLA in response to exploding crime, rising property taxes and, given NOLA is substantially a tourist/service industry town, a year's worth of unemployment is devastating. Remember, Huey Long once said, "One of these days the people of Louisiana are going to get good government - and they aren't going to like it." That's especially and doubly true in NOLA...

Thugs come from outside the neighborhood... porch thieves, car jackings, shootings, car windows broke out every night... fifteen year-olds with 70 arrests... back on the street in two hours (I'm told). A District Attorney who doesn't prosecute "children" or simple theft- less than $500... though $1,000 in damages to steal $200... I personally know a family whose driver's side door has been broken seven times and car ransacked... nothing stolen... but insurance is getting expensive, as is auto glass... Resentment is building...

Times are rough here also, our area went from being basically crime free to what you describe, and the trouble makers come from outside. The group that was stealing Catalytic Converters, mine included came from a city 30 miles away. we are blaming it on CV19 poverty.

Great fun set! Our rescued Chihuahua goes after the bunnies on our property but never really molests them. Thanx for sharing.

Bunnies can be violent and, as all creatures do, have their own defenses. I watched Jingles approach a larger rabbit that comes evenings to nibble in my back yard, the rabbit jumped and in passing over Jingles, kicked Jingles in the back of the head hard enough to knock her down. Jingles keeps her distance now... I think we have agreement of backyard protocol...
