Hello
I have a Yashica Mat 124 and over the years I have had great success taking photos with it.
As with other Yashica 124’s the meter does not operate any longer.
Please help me find someone who can repair the meter in this great camera
Thanks very much

Great old camera, had one. Were it mine, I'd find a nice little hand held meter and party on!

Get a good handheld meter. A used but newer style Gossen Luna Pro or Six that uses a 9v battery would be great and about $75-125. A used Spotmeter would be better if you learn to use it. I have a Gossen Luna Six and Minolta Spotmeter F. Other good old spots are the Pentax and Soligar. I need to use them with my Pentax Spotmatic Camera, other vintage film cameras, and two 4x5" View Cameras.

Wow I never thought of that approach. I really appreciate your suggestion. I will look on line for a used spot meter.
Thanks again.

Love to help, but any suggestion I could make would be pure stone age. I had a Gossen Luna Pro, and still have a Sekonic Studio. Always craved one of the Spotmeters, but never owned one.

If it was me, I would just purchase a hand held light meter, outdoor lighting does not change much during the day, one reading should do it for a while unless you are under shade then sun situations.

Or Mark Hama, or Zacks Camera Repair.
But don’t be surprised that the repair will cost north of $100. The spot meters I’ve seen are pricy items - more than a camera repair. Or you could go the complete manual route using the Sunny 16 rule. There are Gossen light meters on eBay with the spot attachment included at reasonable prices as well.

Had that Yashica Mat many years ago, good camera, but we were incompatible. (Nikon FMs & FEs spoiled me.)
You might want to take another look at the battery.
There is a replacement: Exell 1.35-Volt Zinc Air Coin Cell Battery, MRB625, Mercury-Free Replacement Battery Cell Replaces H-D, KX625, LR09, MR9, MRB625, PX13, PX62, PX625, RPX625, Z625PX
The original battery is no longer available.
This battery has, technically, a slightly different voltage, resulting in a slightly different exposure.
Using negative film, it is not enough to notice.
If you use slide film, you might want to test it to see if it is off too much.
Good luck!

Thanks Stan, appreciate it.
If you have a cell phone, there are several light meter apps available. I found them in the "Playstore" for Android phones. Might be worth a try before laying down $$$$ for one.
