Historic Statue Albert Dock Liverpool Waterfront.
Legacy sculpture by Mark DeGraffenried, 2001
Albert Dock waterfront. The man is standing looking out to sea, the woman is crouched holding her small daughter.
The Legacy sculpture can be seen overlooking the River Mersey, outside the Piermaster's House in the Royal Albert Dock.
This statue of a young family commemorates migration from Liverpool to the new world.
It was given to the people of Liverpool by the Mormon Church as a tribute to the many families from all over Europe who embarked on a brave and pioneering voyage from Liverpool to start a new life in America.
It is estimated that in total approximately nine million people emigrated through the port.
The sculpture by Mark DeGraffenried is cast in bronze. The child stepping forward at the front symbolises migration to the unknown world
Nice statue and setting. The colors work well together.
I wish you could have moved a little to the left, eliminating the downspout while preserving the complete circle.

Really beautiful, thank you for that.

Thanks Bill - I was a bit unhappy with the spout in the photo but on recall think I did not have the available to avoid it.Did think when I started editing I could get rid of with Healing brush or Snapheal but first attempts were quite ugly.
I've visited the museum in that area when they had an exhibit on emigration. When my friends from Liverpool visited us in NY, we took them to Ellis Island so they could see the exhibits on immigration, many of whom came from Liverpool. Both were fascinating and told the entire story.
