Ok, so I read all the responses and listened about going with an alternative.
Nikon is having a 10% off refurbished lenses. I found this which may be a good alternative.

AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR. $499.95 New
AF-S DX NIKKOR
18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR II $450.00 (with 10% off) referbished. New $640.95

If I needed a dedicated landscape lens, I would get the Nikon AF-P DX 10-20 F4.5-5.6 $306.00 listed in your previous post.

“AF-P DX 10-20 F4.5-5.6 $306.00 listed in your previous post.” It’s now $225 (refurbished) until Monday on the Nikon site. It is plastic but personally like the lighter weight and knowing that In an accident if will fail before the camera. Been there done that with the 70-300 Dx on my D500.

The 18 mm focal length in any of those two lenses will become a 27 mm if using a full frame. For many photographers that is all the wide angle they need. I use the 18-200 VR first generation and I like it as an all around lens. I am not familiar with the 18-140 VR but I am sure it is also a fine lens if you do not need the extra reach.

Extreme wide angles have their roles in landscape if you are willing to accept the distortions at the corners. It is absolutely necessary to come close to your subject, those are not lenses to get everything in the shot. Distant objects will be smaller because wide angles retract the backgrounds expanding the foregrounds. It is important knowing how to use them or you will be very disappointed in them. The suggestion by Gene 51 about using a normal lens for panoramas is indeed an excellent idea.

For Dx, the 10-20 or the 18-200. For an fx lens on a dx camera, the 16-35.

I recommend you google pro reviews and add in the 18-105 while you are at it. Check out reviews of what you already own as well. The problem with asking us is that owners of a particular piece will tend to toot their own horn. Few of us ever get to do in depth comparisons. Check out reputable used dealers too like KEH or MPB. Used crop frame zooms often sell for a big discount to new.

The 18-140 is a very sharp lens. I replaced it with a 70-200 and a 24-70 and a 11-20 all f2.8 lenses. For the price used the 18-140 is a great walk around lens with good quality and a cheap price. All my replacement lenses are Nikon except the 11-20 which is a Tokina

Consider the 35mm f1.8 DX prime. Sharp, good low light lens and inexpensive ($200).

Amazon has the 18 - 140 return for $222 w/90 day warranty. You don't need 200mm (300mm equivalent) for landscape.

This is shipped by Amazon, sold by third party.

Great landscape photos can be made with many different focal lengths, not just wide angle. A 10-20mm lens would be far too limiting to be considered a proper landscape lens.

This is true.

Not necessarily true.

Often for landscape photography a wider view is wanted. Yes, standard and even telephotos focal lengths are used at times. But when you say "landscape lens", most experienced photographers immediately think "wide angle".

The problem here is that the original poster, tcanzano, hasn't told us what lens they already have.

Presumably they have at least one other lens to use on their D5600.

Nikon usually bundles a D5600 with at least an 18-55mm DX lens. They also sometimes offer it with two kit lenses, the same 19-55mm plus a 70-300mm. There's also a more expensive "premium" kit version offered with 18-140mm DX (I assume this isn't what the OP has, since they're considering buying this lens).

For landscape photography, they already have a pretty good lens even if they only have the 18-55mm. There's not a whole lot of reason to add an 18-140mm since a lot of the focal lengths would be duplicated. Yes, the 18-140mm is a more premium lens and would be nice at times for portraits, maybe some sports or cooperative wildlife.

Or if they've got the two lens kit, there's little reason to add either the 18-140mm or the 18-200mm. Those would be fully covered by the two lens combo.

Regardless which kit they have, to truly add to their capabilities for landscape photography in particular, a wider lens like the AF-P 10-20mm DX simply makes the most sense. It wouldn't duplicate much of what they already have... it's a good value in the $250 to $307 range (comes with HB-81 lens hood).

That and the Nikkor AF-S 10-24mm, as well as several third party lenses, are quality alternatives. The problem is their prices. The AF-S 12-24mm is the most expensive wide DX zoom anyone makes, at over $1100. The AF-S 10-24mm isn't far behind at $900. Various Tokina, Tamron and Tokina options can be had for about half those prices.

But the AF-P 10-20mm is a really outstanding value at around $300 (or less, refurbished). Yes, it's more plasticky. But it's also more compact and lighter weight if planning to travel, hike, etc. with it.

For landscape photography I would also recommend quality, multi-coated Circular Polarizing filters (B+W are a good value, might need a "slim" XS-Pro for that 10-20mm) and, if not included with their lenses, matched lens hoods. The 18-55mm uses 55mm filters, while the 10-20mm uses 72mm.

Many landscape photographers also like to work with a tripod (and a good quality, stable tripod can last a lifetime).
