I have seen several references to this. Going to there website it appears to be an instrument to house high school sports images. Could someone(s) provide some additional information on it for me? Questions include:
Do you have to be affiliated with a HS and/or league?
Do you retain ownership of your photos?
Do you receive credentials you can present to high schools to photograph games?
Do you sell your images?
I guess best summed up: how does it work and what are the advantages or disadvantages of becoming affiliated with it?

Hi. I along with Jules take photos for MaxPreps.com.
#1 No you don't have to be affiliated with anyone or anything. You are actually a freelance photographer for MaxPreps.
#2 Yes the photos are yours but they can use them for advertisement I think but you retain your rights.
#3 Yes you are issued credentials, they only have these printed once a year. usually at or around start of new school year. You can only use these when you take photos that you are going to post with MaxPreps. It is actually a pretty powerful thing to possess.
#4 Yes They sell your photos online for you. They only sell digital downloads at this time. Three sizes (SM. 600 x 443 pixels $7.99 (72 dpi) for slideshows and websites, MED. 1024 x 756 pixels $15.99 (72 dpi) for ( wallets, 4 x 6 , 5 x 7) ( LG. 3000 x 2216 pixels $29.99 (300 dpi) for (8 x 10, 16 x 20, 20 x 30). If your clients sign up to be a member they get a 10% discount on all purchases!
Customer purchases download and uses for personal use only! They can take the anywhere and have photos etc. made from downloads. There are no refunds though. They would have to work that out with photographer. I have a separate website my business one that sell photos, gallery wraps, standouts, metal prints, gift items, etc. My bio on Max tell them where they can find these.
I can just tell you how it has been for me, pretty sure Jules will chime in He is the man and has a bunch of galleries posted on Max.
For me it has been wonderful. Have sold quite a few and now that sports have started back up again hope to sell a ton more. Also you get all the money except for a small transaction fee $1.99 for each purchase (total not each photo).
Last and not the least. They are owned by CBS Sports. They are very strict on what they will accept for your galleries. They only want SHARP photos, no backs blocking action, frames that are full not a lot of blank space, good comp presented for your galleries. They will start you out by you presenting them (10) galleries of 25 photos. If all are Ok then you are good to go. Also every year you will need to have at least 25 galleries posted with them to still be a photographer for them. Then you would have to go through the 10 gallery thing again I think. Maybe Jules knows for sure. Enough of that. I hope this helps and as I said Jules may chime in he knows a lot more than I. Last but not the least. I love Max, they have made me a better photographer and I have just come to grips with some things they have been telling me all along. Max may not be for everybody but has been really great for me, they have taught me a lot. Thanks
Tom
