I am looking for a filter system, but do not want to spend as much as it cost on a LEE filter system. Are there others that are decent but not that expensive. I have seen the K&F system, but do not know anything about them.

I am looking at photographing some waterfalls and that is why I am interested in this.

I would appreciate any input you can give me.

Thanks

Bite the bullet and get the Lee. You can start with the general kit with some ND glass and then add the CP filter later. That's how I did it.

You could buy my unused Lee filter system, if interested. The holder to the lens hood just never fit my shooting style. It's too much equipment for me, where a screw-in ND filter or 2 is much more efficient. If interested, let me know and I'll list out the various filters I have in the Lee system with a 'price to sell'.

Hi, I am looking for gradual and ND filters. Can you let me know what you have? Thanks

What lens?

The lenses I use for landscape all have 77mm filter threads. Some of these were taken with no ND filter.

Please consider good filters made with optical glass. I use B&W for that reason. I use prime lenses and I don't want cheap plastic filters on my expensive lenses.

My 2 cents.

Hoya is fine as well. All ND filters cause a cast, but the coatings on B&W, Heliopan, Hoya and Marumi are actually all pretty good, so they have minimal negative impact on the image. I have all of the above and the build quality on the more expensive filters (brass filter ring and metal mount) set them apart. But most of my lenses have some sort of composite for the filter thread, and I find the composite filter rings on the less expensive filters less likely to cross thread.

One certainly can't go wrong with B&W, but looking at alternatives are not automatically lower in quality and you can save some serious $$$ with the others.

I've been using B+W filters for some years now. In fact, most of my filters have been replaced by B+W filters.

+1 on the B&W filters Bob. They are well made German filters produced by
Schneider who’s been manufacturing Lenses since 1913.

One really has to dig around for reviews on filters before making a blanket recommendation for a particular brand and model

https://fstoppers.com/bestfiltertest

How long a company has been in business has absolutely nothing to do with filter quality - the youngest company, Breakthrough Photography, consistently beats the competition - and it has only been around since 2015.

My neutral density filters are Cokin P and Kodak gel. No discernable color cast or image degradation with either.

What do you have and what do you want for them?

I have a need for 72mm, 77mm and 82mm.

I’m not really making a recommendation, just saying that Schneider does make well made or high quality products. I use some of their B&W filters and have in the past used Schneider lenses on my old Rollei
TLR. Their products may not be the best but they work ok for me. I agree that the age of a company has little bearing on the quality or superiority of their products. Any poorly managed company can go south in this regard.

Thanks for the links. I enjoyed reading the two evaluations. I found it interesting in the second link the writer basically says that while performance of the different filters vary in SOOC photographs, most of the issues can be fixed in post.

Check out Blue Frog filter system. New company. I have the system and very pleased. Filters are glass.

One of their ad message touts no color cast on their ND filters. Do you find this to be true? Thank you
