Hello all, Marcoj here.

My D7500 battery seems to drain unusually fast. For example, the menu "battery info page" shows a charge of 94% after being fully charged and only 7 shots. The battery age indicates "0". I also noticed that the battery ran down very quickly while doing some table top work with camera in live view. I have the "Send to Smart Device", "Wifi" and "Blue Tooth" OFF. While writing this, the battery went to 93%. The battery is a Nikon. The battery in my previous D80 seemed to last forever.

Battery problem or camera problem??

Has anyone experienced this?

Regards, and keep safe,
Marcoj

Is it new and can be replaced as defective?

You might 'chat' with Nikon and see if they'll replace, chat and phone numbers are available at:

Thanks CHG_Canon for the quick reply.

I already sent an email to NIKON Support. The battery is past warranty.

p.s. Today, New York City out-winded Chicago.

MarcoJ

Hello all, Marcoj here. br br My D7500 battery se... (show quote)

I only use Nikon Batteries in my D7100. No issues and they do seem to last forever. Is the camera giving you false info or is the battery truly drained to zero & no longer functions? I have (3) and swap them to attempt giving equal usage for all.

Thanks ABJanes:

No false readings. When I was using live view for a fairly long session, the battery completely discharged.

Live view sucks more juice out of your battery than any other processes on your camera.
I rarely use live view for that reason. I prefer to use OVF or EVF anyway.

Had exactly the same problem with my D7500. Even though WiFi and Bluetooth off. Solution. Turn on "Airplane Mode". - No more battery drain.

I have not had this problem with my D7500. Have you tried a different battery? Even Nikon batteries can fail.
