Quite frankly I do not see any noise issue if you use your camera properly as in not using it a "crop to see" magnifying tool.

Pixel peepers will said THERE IS NOISE regardless of what you do, entirely missing the point that they are a minority who look for 'defect' when there is none once reduced for printing and/or display.

The only noise to avoid is the noise created by the peanut gallery. Keep on trucking folks, bugs on your windshield will be washed out soon enough.

And as long as you don't try to shoot a black cat at midnight in a coal pile on Auto.

Personally, I think it was a poor idea to carry the electrical engineering term over to photography. I equate "noise" with grain. Every film has it. Some higher ISO film have a more pronounced grain structure. Similarly, high ISO settings produce more "grain" in digital photographs. It's just part of the process and not one about which I worry.

Use a low intensity flash and you get golden eyes.

It is what it is.....

I've never hard as much ado about film grain,
but digital noise is certainly beat to death.

Black cats at midnight on coal piles are relatively harmless - not so polar bears and snow storms. Only intrepid (or foolhardy) photographers brave the polar bears

All of you have me laughing here! I’m also enjoying the freedom to not be too upset about the noise I get especially from my somewhat older camera. While I marvel at the wow factor of some vivid and razor sharp photos, I also love the impact of some photos that capture a special mood or moment even if not technically perfect. Imagine how many amazing and sometimes historic moments we would have missed, such as this photo with horrible grain and uneven exposure!
