Eric, I am one of those that feels the background draws too much attention from the beautiful flowers.
If the color of the background flowers could be toned down they would not draw that much attention from the viewer.

I went back and took another look with your comment in mind. I think you have a point. Maybe I should have tried to get more separation between the yellow of the subjects and the yellow of the background. Luckily, they are right out front and I can have another go at it. Thanks for the comment. Keeps me on my toes.

I like this a lot - in spite of the even number of prime subjects - but I think Gaylord has a valid point re: some distractive effect of the bright background flowers.

It is a good point. Here is the conundrum: You use lenses with these effects precisely because of the effect. Then the effect becomes as prominent as your subject. You've actually negated, then, the essence of the background which is to remain unobtrusive. I think there is a middle ground to be sought where the background has some interest; but does not try to steal the show. Here's to finding that fine line.

The metadata I see indicates 1/8000 with an ISO of 100. Using the sunny 16 rule it would indicate the f/stop to be f/16. Your Metadata doesn't show what f/stop was used. So could you clear this information up for me.

I did not use sunny 16. 1/8000 is correct; but I did not use f/16. I used f/2 and then had to tone down the exposure about two stops. I had to use f/2 in order to get that effect. Could possibly have been f/2.8 but no smaller than that.

I know what you mean, Erich, but bugger the judges . It's a lovely picture, something that you created, something that is important to you. We all learn from our photography and strive to improve. If you win the odd accolade or award along the way, great. But the greatest pleasure comes from creating.

I definitely agree with that sentiment.
