Excelsior Pass - NY State

I got my Excelsior Pass - my digital Covid vaccination ID - last night.  You have to know when you got your last shot and what county it was.

If they don't have a record of you, someone suggested going to a pharmacy because they apparently have access to the state records.  In any case, you have the little card they gave you when you got your shots.

I don't know exactly why we need this, but maybe something will be restricted to those who are fully vaccinated. Getting the pass is optional, of course.

EDIT: This expires in a month! I guess that means we'll have to get shot-up every month.

What's the point of the pass if you still must socially distance and wear a mask? When does this crap end?

It doesn't - because this is not about health, but about compliance through fear.

It might have already ended if everyone had acted responsibly from the beginning.

I think you meant "not fully vaccinated". That being so, we know some airlines require proof of vaccination before you can fly and just a couple of days ago there was a news report that Rutgers University is going to require proof that you have been vaccinated before you can return to on campus classes.

I agree. My wife and I are fully vaccinated but we'll still wear a mask until everyone's vaccinated and/or the pandemic has run out of steam. As it alway was, wearing a mask is largely about protecting others to help stop the spread, so if you don't give a shit about anyone other than yourself, you can of course continue to go maskless and profess your Constitutional right to do so.

It time for all to start thinking. If you are vaccinated you cannot get the disease and thus you cannot spread it to others. If your vaccinations are complete relax and enjoy life. Masks are symbols of political compliance though not of much use.

What am I missing here. If your fully vaccinated you're no longer in the equation. You can't spread it or get it. Those who still fear it after vaccination, stay home and let the rest of the world get back to normal. Your irrational fears are your problem and not mine any longer.

You're ignorant to the facts and stay in your basement for the rest of your life.

I believe your being out of the equation after being vaccinated is still somewhat unknown. A medical professional friend told me that once vaccinated, the COVID virus particles still enter your body but can't get into your cells to multiply. However, you are still breathing in viral particles and you can still expel them to others, when you talk, sneeze, spit, etc. I would imagine that since the virus can't multiply in a vaccinated host, it's not multiplying into huge numbers that could be expelled so admittedly, a vaccinated person's exhalations are likely less infective. And let's not forget that the vaccines are not 100% effective in preventing infection so even vaccinated people could be infected and spread the infection...unless they're wearing a mask.

I don't like wearing the masks but I do when in stores or in the public even though I'm fully vaccinated as a courtesy to others. Even after you are fully vaccinated and you might not get it, you can still carry it to someone that is vulnerable.
