Just saw the news report about the massive container ship that’s blocking the Suez Canal causing hundreds of ships to line up waiting for passage. So if your waiting for your bicycle, camera parts, new laptop, refrigerator, etc., it may be a awhile🥴

Just saw that too. So far they've tried just about everything to unjam the ship from the sides of the canal. It's still stuck!

Same philosophy as the guy who's truck "will fit" under the old 10'-8" railroad bridge?

They need to have the Chinese dam the down-stream end of the canal so the rest will fill up and dislodge that beast, then, blow up the dam; Next!

I've been through the Suez a dozen or so times, it's a tight fit for even a moderately sized ship. Hope they can dig the guy out...LOL

I heard it's full of pulp used to make toilet paper. Get ready for the next toilet paper shortage.

LOL, sorta like when you have two plastic buckets stacked. Not even the forces of evil can unbind that union.

It is a 1300' ship of aprx 224,000 tons that was turned by wind gusts of 40+ knots.
They tried to pull it free with tugs, no go. So now they are dredging all the sand and muck that prevents the bow from moving and they expect to be done and then have the tugs pull it free over the weekend sometime. If that doesn't work it could take weeks to partly unload the ship so it floats higher move it to a wider part of the canal so other ships can get by and then reload it afterwards to continue its trip.

It is a container ship headed for the Netherlands with consumer goods cargo from Asia. This has already started a discussion of "maybe the ships are getting too big".

Ahhh, so it wasn't too large... The wind ran it aground.

Initial reports were ambiguous and in-concise....
