Anyone using this lens? I am considering this wide angle lens for landscapes and astro photography. I have also considered the Tokina atx-i 11-16mm F2.8 CF. However, the reviews for the new 11-20 are impressive. It’s more expensive than the 11-16, but likely worth it for the extra zoom. I shoot with a Nikon D3300. My current lenses are Nikon 35mm, 18-55mm and 55-200mm. Wouldn't this be a nice addition? Comments welcome.

I bought it a few years ago and use it to shoot Astro photography and some landscapes with it. Out of the many lenses I have, I really like this one alot. I have a D7200 and all pictures are excellent. You will not be dissappointed.

Thanks for your reply. I'm glad to read you're happy with the 11-20mm F2.8 lens for astro and landscapes. If you bought it a few years ago, you may have a previous model. I read this was an upgraded version, and it was just released in July 2020. It is featured as a "new product" on Tokina's website.

Tokina are good lenses. They are D (aperture ring) lenses and its screw drive focus. I don’t know if you 3300 have this option

I bought the Tokina AT-X Pro 11-20mm f2.8 IF DX lens for my d500. I have had this lens for a few months. I love it for astrophotography. I don't shoot landscape much.I purchased it from KEH for 377.00 in excellent+ condition.

Pay close attention to what Uhaas2009 said. I don't think the 11-16mm Tokina will work on the D3300. Your camera needs lenses that have a motor in the lens, such as Nikon SWM lenses, in order to have autofocus.

Shooting landscapes and astro photography, you could get by with it using manual focus.

I was looking for a wide angle lens and narrowed it down to two, the Tokina 11-20 28 and Tameton 10-24.
I picked the Tameron 10-24 because larger zoom range, as minor as it is, and mainly the autofocus switch on Tameron is a button and Tokina is a ring, push pull. To override autofocus on tameron after auto focus you just rotate the focus ring and Tokina you have to use the ring to get out of sutofocus and into manual. saw reviews and the ring was sticky at times and when I tried it at B H mine got stuck 3x so I said forget it. Also the Tameron had extra reflecting coatings.

The lens I mentioned will work on his d3300.

The D3300 does not have the necessary 'screw drive' for focusing. That starts with the D7000 series of DX Nikons and upwards.

The Tokina atx-i 11-20mm F2.8 CF for Nikon F mount incorporates internal Silent-Drive focusing Motor (SD-M) in combination with precise GMR sensor to allow the lens to AF accurately and fast.

I stand corrected. My older Tokina AT-X pro 11-16 is an excellent lens, but requires a Nikon with an internal motor in order to utilize auto focus.

I expect you'll get great results no matter which of the Tokina lenses you buy.

Tokina 11-20 with my D7200 is my go to lens traveling all over the world. It's sharp!
