I belong to a photo group on Facebook. A brief description from the group admin is:
This is a group for photographers ONLY. I originally started it so people could find second shooters, assistants, mentors, etc. This group is not meant to be a place to advertise your services, unless it is as a second shooter or assistant. Selling used gear is permitted.
It goes on to explain a few other "rules". Today I see a GOFUNDME link from someone stating that her passion is photography and asking others to donate because camera gear is so expensive. Does she think it's any less expensive for the rest of us? Just rubbed me the wrong way.

If somebody would pay all of my bills, I could roam around all day and persue the elusive "keeper image".
Hard to imagine anyone being attracted to a "funding" for budding interest.
She's looking for young fools with money, won't be surprised if she actually finds some these days,,,
"Go Fund Me" has gotten very popular. Many people are eager to help others, but the word "scam" comes to mind. I suppose GFM has some restrictions on posting, and I'm sure they get a cut, so maybe the restrictions aren't too restrictive.
Coincidence: I just got an email from professional ukulele people about severe flooding in parts of Hawaii. There is a Go Fund Me for a ukulele personality whose house was destroyed.
It would ABSOLUTELY rub me the wrong way also. I guess in this world nothing should surprise me especially in this entitlement society.

Including abuse of the "system".

If she gets what she wants who's the mug.
With all the worthy GoFundMe requests it's hard to believe she'll be inundated with contributions. Trying to see the good in people, I wonder if she's perhaps a teenager with no income trying to get into photography or maybe a disabled person who can't work and is hoping to start a photography career. More information might make people a little less critical...or maybe more so if she's just someone looking for a free ride!
Maybe she will get a stimulus check and won't need to beg anymore.
According to her Facebook profile she is employed by Delta Airlines but doesn’t say in what capacity.
