Last March 10 was a super cloud day on the NOP. I shot the gull without paying any attention to the background, so ended up with the gull playing second or third fiddle. Normally I review photos in Faststone Image Viewer and take ones for PP into Lightroom. This one was taken care of in Faststone alone. An 8x10 print shows no noise at all in the sky, but the halo on the boulder rip-rap will have to go. Another consideration is to enlarge the gull a bit.
This shot has so many faces I thought to throw it in here for anyone who wants to play with it. The first image is my PP, the second image is OOC. Have fun!

Too many details lost on the gull to do much with from my point of view, which left me to overprocess the rest of a lovely scene.

Whoa...don't sell yours short. I love your boulder treatment, and the change in the sky looks good to me.

You are right about the gull. I find it very difficult to keep the white of the adult gulls from being blown when the full sun hits it. I'm partial to blue, and almost settled for close to what you came up with. Thanks for playing.
I replaced your sky with your sky but blowing it up enlarging the sea gull then cleaned up the white edges around her. I added a little texture to the sea gull so the blown out areas wouldn't appear so noticeable. All done in Photoshop using layers and masks.

Nice job! I never thought of adding texture. Should also work with overblown white water lilies.

Thanks, I used a texture but would have preferred a better one.

I think I have some shots of adults taken in more subdued light that I can take the texture from. Another tool I never thought of.
