Flock of Crows

I just subscribed after seeing Carol’s invitation on the General forum

This is a repeat of my January post in the Photo Gallery and wanted to hear this group’s thoughts. I was photographing the clouds after a storm when these crows flew through the scene and I released the shutter regardless of focus or shutter speed.

I liked the action and was working on it in Photoshop when I accidentally moved the mouse way too far in Curves and this came out of it. I like it but does anyone else? (I don’t have the high rez version handy but these thumbnails should be good enough for the overall impression.)

Craig, thank you for coming by. I’m glad you’re here! I think what you’ve done made good use of a photo the wasn’t fully in focus. By getting a little creative you gave it new life. If you like it, that is the most important thing! This rendition gives added emphasis to the crows.

Thanks, Carol. I’m glad to be a part of this group and look forward to growing in these techniques.

I frequently take an image into PS, with the idea of seeing what I can come up. As a matter of fact I am working on one now. Your rendition is one I possibly would come with as a final result. Not a wall hanger but a lot of fun going through the process. Keep them coming.

You can't fix focus too easily.

Thanks, Frank. I counted it as a loss until this happened. It wasn’t even intentional and the result was an absolute surprise discovery. I think I had set the curves midpoint then slipped when I was lowering the light end of the curve and got an extreme S curve.

True! It was a loss. I liked it enough to try to save it and attempted some extreme measures.
