Not really. This was taken at Alligator Alley in Robertsdale, Alabama and swimming is highly discouraged

For this composition around mid-day I did use a CPL adjusted just enough to knock off excessive glare without taking away the necessary reflections to give this some depth and help preserve the natural feel of the environment. Additionally, I tried to purposely disrupt the rule of thirds just slightly to give it a sense of tension and some motion.

All comments and suggestions are always welcome!

Cheers,
Tony

Excellent - his eye (which is what the viewer will first look at) is pretty much "rule of thirds" both vertically and horizontally. That glassy stare (very menacing) has been perfectly captured. Great Pic.

Great shot with good detail. I appreciate that you played with the cropping, and I humbly encourage you to keep experimenting. If your original image is wide enough, perhaps some space in front of the mouth would give space for junior here to move into (like we like to see space for birds to fly into). I also would like to see some way to convey the size of the body attached to this powerful head. These are all tweaks on a fine portrait. Good job.

I think you made you point quite well! Excellent capture. He looks peaceful enough but it wouldn’t be smart to splash around him.

Your comments are much appreciated. I did set the eye around the upper left intersection, but decided to completely ignore the space on the right to profile the stare that you observed.

Thanks for the suggestions Clark. This guy was being shy and only had portions of his head above the water line.
