Found this old log structure yesterday out in no man's land and don't know what exactly it was used for. There were some interesting old farming implements laying around, plowshares and the like. Unfortunately, it was harsh mid day light and I only had a few minutes to photograph the structure. Had to get back on the road for the 150 mile drive home and a doctors appointment. Plan on an early morning return on another day to take more photos of this structure and a few more structures that were across a gully.

The first photo is as you're approaching the site and gives a view of the structure past the gully and what the country looks like. If anyone can identify the implements please do so as I've taken a guess that they are what we used to call plow shares.

Very nice and interesting. I agree those are plowshares and my guess is the machine would be pulled by a team of horses. My grandfather plowed his garden spots with one horse and one plowshare and it maybe would be too much for one horse to pull two.

Meant to add this photo with my original post above...does anyone have an idea what it is or was used for? Whenever I get a chance to return to this site I will get better photos...imagine this may have been off or part of
an another implement. TIA

Jim, you are still the master at these shots - finding them and your execution.

BTW, the light would not have been so harsh if you did not spend so much time talking with old men (LOL).

Looks like you better make that return trip soon or there may not be much left. I love the first shot. When I see shots like these I always think about the people that lived there. I can imagine looking out at that view every day. It was probably a hard life but I hope they were able to appreciate the beauty.

Many thanks for confirming the ID, Jerry. Your grandfather was a strong man using a horse to plow his garden...anytime you are using livestock for farming you were performing a hard task!!

Thank you, Mike and you know I enjoyed our time together roaming the marsh and kibitzing as well as getting these shots...there will be another time for me to get back and photograph the rest of the site!!
