Bees have been cultured, or at least exploited, for honey and beeswax by humans for an estimated 9,000 years. Hieroglyphs on the Egyptian pyramids include images of beekeepers.

Bees have so much to offer us if we only listen.
Chicago Bee The hum of bees is the voice of the garden.
Chicago bee and flower In cold climates, honey bees stop flying when the temperature drops below about 10 °C (50 °F) and crowd into the central area of the hive to form a "winter cluster". The worker bees huddle around the queen bee at the center of the cluster, shivering to keep the center between 27 °C (81 °F) at the start of winter (during the broodless period) and 34 °C (93 °F) once the queen resumes laying.

The first and final images use the EF 135mm f/2L USM as a close-up lens. The middle images feature the EF 180mm f/3.5L Macro USM.
