B & H has washed their hands of separating out the grays from the USA warranties. However you have to read all of their data website) in order to discover that little piece of information. There is a lot of reading between the lines there but, it's all there.

I've just loaded film and batteries into my 54 yr.-old Nikon FTn and am itchin' to use it this spring. Everything on that old machine works perfectly, including the TTL light meter. I never gave a thought to how long the warrantee was valid for. A well cared-for Nikon and its lenses just ain't gonna break, IMHO.

I have a well cared for F and an excellent cared for 50mm f1.4 lens that does not work. The other 50mm f1.4 slightly newer but still pre-AI still works great though.

Doesn't AI (auto-indexing) mean it has the little bracket on top that connects the lens to the light-meter? You can have my 50mm/f1.4 (AI) if you pay the postage.

I have a pre-AI which does have the indexing ears on the lens. AI have a perforated ear in the lens.
Thank you for the wonderful offer but my other one works just great, glad I have it.
I have several very old lenses that have quit and keep them for display purposes in my office.

Nikon is trying to cut corners as part of their restructuring and downsizing....hopefully 2021 is a turnaround year for Nikon otherwise they might wind up like Olympus.

I consider this sound advice worth following. Unfortunately, most people have a consumer mindset. They want the newest thing right now so refuse to delay gratification. Your sons are off to a great start. I’ll bet you’ve read “The Millionaire Next Door.” I think it should be required reading as early as middle school.
