I was trying to get some bird shots and when I failed I shot the moon instead. It won't hold still either but it does move slower.

2,288 MPH actually! Be one heck of a bird!
I never can get the moon outlined for certain trees. I generally get only the moon and no trees. Any ideas?
Harold - those are really quite good moon shots. Yes, I'm jealous. :-)
Selena18 - Suggest you use one of the smartphone apps to help you determine when and where the moon will rise and set. "Photopills" is a really good one. There are several other helpful apps - even some free ones. You might also ask your question in the astrophotography section. I'm sure someone there can help you.
I like it. The first photo is really sharp.😀

Nice and sharp. I've got a few moon shots as well. Love taking photos of the moon and other night shots.
I think I got lucky on that first one. I have a P1000 and am experimenting with it. Comparing it to a D3500 and an RX 10. I find the stability of the tripod is really tuff on the long shots. I got a better tripod but is still any vibration is evident. Thinking about building a tripod on the basis of my machine tools where there is a major adjust and a fine adjust and enough weight to dampen it. Probably have to pour it in concrete or something really.
My son is kind of into astronomy and was telling me the sides of the moon and back side have way bigger craters as they are exposed to space junk and big stuff. Kind of evident in the first picture how the craters are major on the edges. Interesting to me.
Nice moon shots. Looks like you had a long lens there. Came out nice and sharp on the first one.
