Has anyone tried the newest version of Luminar AI that they just released in the last couple of weeks? I had tried the first version of AI and wasn't impressed, was wondering if anyone tried the second version.

Second version works fine as did v1 - worth a try in my opinion

Thanks for the answer, the first AI version left me unimpressed, I might give version 2 a try if more UHHers feel it’s worth trying again.

I like the product but the original AI release crashed every time I used the erase tool. Version 2 doesn't crash but it leaves a black blotch where the erased item was. A second try at erasing removed the blotch but the shading did not match the surrounding area. I needed to dodge & burn to get the shading right. It's back to emailing with their tech people

I think everyone loses sight to what Luminar is all about. I suggest going to Digital Photo Mentor site. She does some wonderful videos on what you can do with Luminar. If you know what it does, and how it actually works, I think that you will like it. But that's just me!

One suggestion. If it crashes after first installment, remove it and try reinstalling it.

I am using the current version of Mac OS on 2 different machines, and have no problem running Luminar AI v2.

I have V2 and with the latest release they have brought more features and fixes. I haven't had any problems with V1 but as a programmer I tend to purchase beefed up hardware. There was an update that I applied this week and it seems to work smoother than the original, this one this week is the second update.

In the V1 of AI, I hated the eye ai. I still don't like the "slimming" functionality.

I have stopped using Lightroom and PS this year and for my workload Luminar AI fits my needs. I would like to see cataloging beefed up. It would also be nice to allow culling and both manual and automatic ratings.

I like Luminar AI. That's probably because I'm new to post-processing so I don't know what I'm missing. All I've ever used is a 1998 version of Adobe Photo Deluxe. I plan to try the other popular post-processors and decide which one I like best.

Just because some others have problems or don't care for Luminar AI shouldn't discourage your using it if you like it. When it won't do something that is important to you is a good time to consider adding other options. Personally I use Affinity. I love it and it is very capable but I have been seriously considering adding the latest Luminar to see if it does some things easier or better.

Just checked Luminar AI erase - works very well indeed. Try it on RAW image
