Painting project is finished so I have turned my attention to important things.
The day after the camera arrived from KEH, while setting up to paint, I noticed my new friend, The Hurt Hawk, had stopped by to say hello. The camera was on the tripod just waiting for something to photograph. At this point I was just starting to get the feel for the new camera controls.
Hawk on a Bush.
I have long wondered about the need to tune my Sigma Lens. It seems light years of growth in lens ability have passed since this lens was produced so officially there is or was not much that could be done. My old t3i did not have the ability to make lens tuning adjustments. The new camera body does have the ability to make focus micro adjustments. I had not taken many images before I realized that I needed to do some tuning.
The first several images are pre micro adjustment. I think one or two are during the process, I went slowly and it took 2 or 3 days before I called it done. (and even now i think I may revisit it,,, because I can)
my impression is that the 7dii sensor can and does capture much more that I used to see through my viewfinder but was not in my files. It also seems to be brighter at about the same settings but I need to do a side by side test to really verify this. Could be subjective on my part. The 7dii also seems to have much less noise at higher iso settings. again I need to do some side by side testing . Having said I intend to test, I think it is only logical that the 7dii should produce better images then the 3ti using the same lens. One a beginners new $600 kit, the other a $1700 new "pro" body back in 2015.
Notes above the images will hopefully explain.

I would be happy with any one of these shots, Bill, pre or post adjustment.
great set, & I agree with UTMike, I would be happy with any one of these shoots,
These are great captures. I personally can not see any difference due to adjustments.
Great results. The differences are going to be most obvious in the AF performance and the noise performance as the pixel difference is modest, increasing from 18MP to 20MP. Hopefully, having dedicated and re-programmable controls on the body exterior with help in the focus and shooting process. The focus system is based on the advancements of era's EOS 1DXII. The hawk is looking great!

Thanks very much Mike.
I am happy with them all. The first, Hawk on a
Bush was a real eye opener for me of what this camera is capable of. Now I have to do my part

NMGal. Thanks very much.
The issue was that what I intended to me my sharpest point was not necessarily the sharpest. Kind of on one shot and off another. I'm hoping the micro adjustment helps. These 8 or 9 images are the best of over 600 shots. Many pre adjustment were just tossed out. After adjustment many less are tossed due to lack of focus, unless of course I blow it.

Thanks Paul. And thanks for all your generous coaching.
I'm planning to buy a battery grip, hopefully used, and modify it for my necessary "accommodation ". I had to make a grip that allows my right hand and trigger finger to be about 10" I front of the camera body. This is due to my wrecked right arm and wrist. No movement in elbow or wrist.
I want to modify a battery grip to allow me to have the controls of the battery grip out where I now have only a shutter button.

Thanks Johnny.
I enjoy the hawk a good bit myself. I'm surprised
By how he seems to stop by to hang every now and then. I have only seen him with one kill since his run into the glass but he must be eating. Actually if you zoom in he has blood on his foot and tail feathers in the last image.
Great detail. Looks like a winner.

I liked this image from the same day enough to add it late to the set.
