This wetlands has been a good place to wait it out during the Pandemics closures and curses. Unfortunately though, for the past several months I’ve had other things that kept me away from it. I’ve come back to find that someone had an idea to build a raised viewing area, built it and now the February and March rains have begun to wash away all that soil. Perhaps they will figure out how to cure the drainage problem before it melts away completely.
📷 🚶🏻 At least I got a nice three mile jaunt in today in the Wetlands with a bit of wind keeping most birds down, but I made do and caught a couple keepers. The White Pelicans are still around, but they were just blobs of white out on the sandbars. Same with the Great Blue Herons, hunkering down and socially distanced. So I found one GBH that was just waking and adjusting his position.
🌬
The school of baitfish were swarming in the shallows and the cormorants and Snowy egrets were having a field day, but the light was wrong from where I stood and I didn’t get anything worthwhile from them. Then while shooting in the opposite direction and trying to balance the shadows with light on the Reddish Heron’s wings, I almost went too far to the right to bring the details back. It all helps in the learning curve I guess.
If you’re interested in the seeing everything that calls the Wetlands home, here’s a web link.

He was my favorite too. He looks almost as if he’s in prayer
