My camera club assignment for this month is an abstract photo using man made objects. I am not artistic but am trying to complete the assignment. Attached are the shots so far can you give me some guidance on whether any of them will work.
Thanks

Congratulations on some great abstract photographs. In my opinion any of the above would qualify and you would do well. I particularly like 2 and 3 but all are superb.

ab·stract art
/əbˈstrakt/
noun
1.
art that does not attempt to represent external reality, but seeks to achieve its effect using shapes, forms, colors, and textures.
Not sure, better to ask the judges...number two may be what they are looking for...
Good photos though 👍

You've got some good ones, Fitz. I'd say 1, 2, 3 & 5 certainly qualify as good examples. #4 looks more like a photo from a repair manual than an abstract, IMHO anyway.

They are all very geometric. I like 1 & 2 the best (particularly #1) since the forms, lines, spaces, etc. take the subject beyond an interesting view. They become a study in shape, space, and line. And that's when the subject becomes secondary to the composition, to me that's one attribute of abstract art.
Keep shooting (and sharing)

I think any but number 3 and 4 would work.

For me #2 is by far the more abstract as well as the most interesting.

I like 2 and 3, and I'm not sure if 4 fits. First might be better cropped as a square to emphasize the squareness. I would also like to see the horizontal bar at the bottom reflected at the top..
