Where is my posting ?

I am so frustated. Yesterday i posted a couple of pictures of Short Eared Owls that i took. I don't know why my posting does not show up in the main photography discussion. Afer i posted it briefly showed up in the up coming topics and couple of them saw it. That's all i saw of it and after that did not show up in main photography discussion. Understand usually that it should up after a day. On the home page when i post, i go into forums sections , main photography discussion and in there i click on create new topic and then post my images with share original when i attach images. Can fellow hoggers tell me what is happening ? If i did anything wrong when i posted. Thanks.

...I saw them yesterday...they were nice...they were posted in the photo gallery where they belong...not in the discussion section...big brother is watching...?

I think what happened is that your posted photos of Short Eared Owls appeared in Upcoming Topics. You expected the post to appear in the Photo Gallery of the next day’s digest...but it didn’t appear. I have had a similar experience. As near as I can tell, only about the top 35 photos(based on the number of people who comment on your photos) make the cut to be posted in the Photo Gallery of the next days digest. It doesn’t seem to matter about how good your photos are...just how many people comment on them. If I am wrong about any of this, I too would like to know.
You can try posting photos in a different section that applies to your photos...you may have a better chance of appearing in the next day’s digest.

That's why I peruse the 'newest pictures' each day. If any of the thumbnails grab me I open them. As of 7:23 Tuesday morning the Short Eared Owl photos were on page 13. I just realized that the 'newest pictures' section may (or may not, I'm not sure) only show pictures from sections that you subscribe to. So the Short Eared Owl pictures may be on a different page than where I see them, but they are there.

Photo Gallery posts belong in the Photo Gallery. If you incorrectly place them in the Main section, expect them to be moved. Put them where they belong to start with.
To find your own posts at any time, use the <my topics> link at the top of all UHH pages. This generates a list of every thread you've created.

Being a somewhat inexperienced poster I've made that mistake a couple of times. When you go to 'Create new topic' the default is the Main section I didn't notice the first time or two and they were moved, but I did get a PM from the administrator informing me of the move.

"Create New Topic" default location will default to the forum you are currently in at the time you click create.
If you are in the Photo Gallery section, default (initial) will be Photo Gallery.
If you are in General Discussion, the default will be General Discussion.
No one category always come up first, it depends on where one is at the time one clicks "Create New Topic".
But if one is always in the same place when clicking create, one will always see the same "default" category.
( I just checked and verified.)
If ADMIN move it, all bets are off.

The easy way to find a post that has been moved; Go to your profile click on highlighted number of topics created which is a list of your topics and click on the topic you are looking for it will take you to the section it is in.

There are a number of responses about posting to the correct section, so I will assume that you posted to your desired section. I don’t know what qualifies a post for the Digest, but you have at least three ways to check on activity. First, there is Newest Topics, I don’t know how long posts are displayed, but you can check almost immediately. Second, My Topics, here you will find things you posted anywhere on UHH. Third, Watched Topics, this will give updates on items you created or replied to.
I hope this helps, by the way, since I discovered Newest Topics I rarely look at the Digest.
