Thanks for the help with the first problem. Correcting the direction of the slides did fix it.
Now for the next problem. In the first 200 scans of the old images, about 7 have had what look like 2 screens, 1 red and 1 green, in front of the photo. Turning the slide over had no effect on the result. Examination of the slides using a 10X glass does not reveal any problem with the slides. They are clean and no such artifacts can be seen. Has anyone solved this one?
