Trying out the new camera with the 90mm macro lens. I still need some practice, but they're getting better. :)
My son came home a few days ago with a bottle in his hand. It had a dead cicada in it for me to take photos of. :D

A dark subject often requires more illumination to capture detail. When using auto-exposure, a light-colored background can cause under-exposure. A shade-neutral background can assist in obtaining correct exposure, without over-exposed background.

These were not easy to capture. I was at an odd angle laying on the floor of the basement, trying to hand hold and keep it steady and in focus. I think I need a mini tripod. :)

I wasn't using auto exposure. However, I will re-shoot these with something darker. I was just messing around last night. I need to find something a little darker and neutral. Thanks for the tips. ;)
