My laptop is dying and I searched but did not find too many recent threads on photo editing laptops. Any recommendations that will not break the bank? Gary

I was just looking at that today - a quick internet search (best pc for photographers) will bring up a bunch of choices across price ranges.

I fix computers all the time and you can probably reset it to factory fresh like new if it’s not a hardware problem and is just flaky. Then run all the Windows updates and install your software as you’d have to do on a new laptop anyway. Your system will be stable and you saved the cost of a new computer.
**Backup your data first!

Let me know if you need more info.

I use a Windows Surface. It works really well for all Adobe LR & PS applications. No complaints

I just get a laptop...
≈$600 range.
I don't need a $1,000+ laptop.
Dell, HP, but I REALLY wish Toshiba still made consumer laptops!!!
My current is a 15.5" (16?) Toshiba Satellite from February of 2012. Love it, will HATE to replace it.
Still running Win 7.

Get a desktop computer and monitor and keyboard for about eight hundred pounds will be better than a laptop.

I use both.
Yes, desktops are faster. However,
we don't know if he has one or not, he simply stated that he will be needing a new laptop.
You assumed that was all he was using.
You might be right, might not.
Some people have no room for a desktop system and only use laptops.

The issue with all low-cost laptops is the screen.

I would not recommend anyone to go on the cheap on this one.

Agreed about laptop screens! It could work by connecting an external monitor to the laptop but that might still have video card limitations. I currently use a $600 Dell desktop PC with a Samsung 27” monitor. Sometimes I email the picture to myself to review on my iPhone before posting in case the brightness or colors are off.

And I have a $400 Dell 2-in-1 with a very slow Pentium processor that allows me to use Canon’s DPP4 tether feature with my camera. I may try doing bird photos remotely in my yard with TeamViewer.

By the way, I found Samsung’s instructions for adjusting their colors by displaying some neutral grays that showed as too green at first. I also lowered the brightness to 45% which seems to work for printing and postings.

I'm using a Toshiba laptop with windows 7 upgraded to a 2tb ssd and 16gb memory, new battery and it works great with an I5 processor. No need for a new one with a little tweeking now and then.
