I use remote control of my camera on many occasions (auto macro rail etc). I also use a simple cable as well on other occasions.
This site gives wiring diagrams for the various cable releases.
https://www.doc-diy.net/photo/remote_pinout/#olympusIt seems to me that Cannon, Olympus, Pentax, and to a letter extent Nikon have the right idea - keep it simple.
if you are interested intervalometers, auto macro rails etc this might be of interest if you have multiple cameras or are choosing a new one.

Thanks! It is very detailed and potentially useful. Thankfully, someone is incredibly fixated on remote controls for cameras. If I ever need this, it’s bookmarked in my browser links of arcane camera tech trivia.

Thank you for sharing fetzler!
Such things can be useful if you wish to build computer controllers for your cameras. Raspberry Pi and Arduino units are cheap and allow homemade contraptions.
Thanks. When I want to use an intervalometer I would need that as I want to build my own intervalometer.
