My Canon EOS1100D uses a LP-E10 battery. I have been looking for a spare online and have noticed prices from $75 to $8. I have purchased cheap after market batteries for my cell phones that were rated better than the OEM. Anyone know of a good place to buy a replacement LP-E10 battery?

My experience with aftermarket batteries makes me stay with Canon brand batteries unless you don't have a choice.
You can find one from Amazon for $19.

I've used those cheap batteries in everything with no problems. A Sony camcorder knew that it was not a Sony battery and shut down, saying I had to install a Sony battery. Rather nervy, I thought.

I got 2 aftermarket batteries and they lasted 2 days before dieing where the brand name would last me 2 weeks.

I got 4 aftermarket, off-brand batteries for my Canon SX40 off eBay and they work FANTASTIC!! Last longer than the orig Canon batt and work flawlessly!! Got all 4 and a charger for less than the cost of ONE Canon batt!!

I have a two Sony cameras both use the same batteries, in the beginning I bought the copy cat batteries and although they never let me down they never lasted as long as the genuine article so now if i buy a spare it is always a genuine one.

Making camera-specific batteries isn't something you do on your dining room table. It requires getting the shape and dimensions just right, aside from the chemistry of the battery. I wonder if the same companies who manufacture for the camera makers also sell batteries to aftermarket companies.

You can buy aftermarket batteries made by the same firm that makes the original. These should be identical apart from the markings.

You can buy aftermarket batteries that are rubbish, but at least you know they are generics.

You can buy pirate batteries that look like originals. These are probably all rubbish and also may be very unsafe - if someone has the morals of a pirate, why make them good?

The biggest problem with rechargeable Lithium batteries is that they can fail disasterously and destroy not only the camera but also start a fire.

Always buy batteries from a known source. While original may not be better and may cost more, they should be safer.

Kind of like OEM car parts. The maker packages the same parts in a different package for sale to the parts stores at a much cheaper price.

here's my .02. my t3i uses a lp-e8. local box stores here wanted $75 for a replacement. online they ranged just like the jomamma1 said. the original battery is 1180mAh. bought an aftermarket on off of amazon that is 2000mAh (almost 2x the battery capacity) shipped to my front door for $14.85. the new battery works flawlessly, and holds a charge forever.

my point - a little research can go a long way. also, make sure you read the user reviews......

A few months ago, I saw an ad from Adorama listing their store brand Flashpoint batteries for $6 each. I ordered 2 batteries for each of my Canon cameras. I intended to use them as emergency backups, because I wasn't expecting them to be very good. These batteries work great, I have no problems and they seem to last at least as long as my Canon batteries.
