My daughter played a few games this past weekend. I try and grab the non-traditional shots (shooting, dribbling, etc) and also try and get some candid shots.

MWojton wonderful series... delightful compositions...
The last image is a breathtaking rendering of a wide eyed angelic athlete with a haunting gaze of innocence.

That said, what could be done to take these captures entirely to the next level?
You might consider stopping down your lens... these were shot wide open with a zoom that typically needs f/8 to yield stellar acuity. I've shot the 70-300 and the 18-300 on a crop body and these lenses simply are not capable of excellence wide open. You also shot all of these at 1/800 which is questionable (maybe try 1/2000) especially since the last image is at an FX equivalent of 330mm!

Instead of Shutter priority please consider Aperture priority (f/8) or Manual (f/8) and Auto ISO (for your D5300 MENU > CAMERA icon > ISO sensitivity settings > Auto ISO sensitivity control > ON.) Set Maximum sensitivity ISO to 12,800 and the Minimum shutter speed to 1/2000 for Soccer.

btw, I'm a major fan of "non-traditional shots" and so are the very best of the best Sports Shooters in the World!
Just review Getty Sports images and you'll quickly realize what sells...

Thanks again for sharing... Hope this Helps MWojton...
Please keep posting! You're a very lucky dad to have such wonderful daughter to "focus" on...
