Is a seventeen year old camera any good today ? As I shoot mostly Nikon now I dug out a old Canon 5D just for fun . My thoughts if it was good then it hasnt changed any . Just not all the bells and whistles ! Sometimes I think it has a more natural look
Great images from the D5. I think the major difference between the older cameras and the new is mostly in the dynamic range of the sensors.
We have also got excellent tools to improve dynamic contrast these days, so most good captures seem "crisper", perhaps unnaturally so, since we can only pull detail out of the area which we are focused on with the human eye.
I have almost completely stopped adding darkening vignettes on my landscapes, although many consider this to be "de rigeur".
Modern optics and algorithms to correct lens irregularities are so good these days that we can get almost perfect edge-to-edge sharpness and correct for fall-off.
Thanks for sharing.
Sure it is. I shoot with cameras over twice that old, a few are 50-60 years old.

If you didn't tell us no one would know.
Very nice photos.
If it still works it's still "good". Some of us shoot for the pure fun of it and to see what we're capable of creating. Occasionally I run into new photographers on the street who almost apologize for the age of their camera or its low-level status (think Nikon D3000 or Canon T3). This is what I tell them: "I feel that a camera is still relevant if it gives you pleasure in its use and its results. What matters is that you enjoy using it".
IMHO, use it, enjoy it, and don't worry about what anyone else thinks about it.
Bottom line is image Quality !

Beautiful - nothing wrong with that

I like the covered bridge.

Only if by that you include the overall artistic merit of the image and not just its technical aspects.
Those images should relieve a lot of gas, they look great.
Nice scenics. Sometimes all those new bells and whistles just get in the way.
