Almost fifty years ago I met my wife while taking square dance lessons. This seems appropriate.

I was already married when we started square dancing. Now that my knees won't take it and my wife passed, it's one of the activities I miss most.

Tried it many years ago, enjoyed it till people got irked and mad if you weren't perfect every call.

That's the thing that always bugged me to. Some people expected everyone to be an expert and we were not.

Growing up in Indiana.........we all had to square dance in PE( gym class.) And with the boys! Secretly......it was fun!

Started square dancing with Jerry Helt half a century ago at a folk dance camp. He did progressive squares, filling the hall with evenly spaced rows of squares. We traded partners and squares, setting him up to say, at the end, "Do you have your partner? NO-O-O! Do you have A partner? YES! Start the music."
Of course his choreography returned us to where we started and to our original partner. Pure magic to somebody like me the first time.
