... visit your camera store for sensor wipes.
As some of you are aware, I have had dirt-on-sensor issues with my recently-acquired Sony A7c. I have never resorted to wet cleaning of a sensor in the past, but there are some persistent and annoying spots on the sensor which prompted me to visit the camera store in advance of a studio session planned for today.
I bought my A7c with the "kit" 28-60mm ƒ4.5-5.6 lens, which I like a lot. I also have adapters for my Nikon and Mamiya lenses, so I don't REALLY need a new lens right now.
But... there were two used 28-70mm ƒ3.5mm lenses in the store and I had taken the camera with me. Of course, I tried them both, and ended up with two items in the bag when I left the store, one a pristine used lens, for about $110 U.S.
I can take the lens back if I don't like it.
Apparently this was a kit lens for one of the Sony DSLRs.
I love the fact that it has a lens hood. It is considerably longer than the other lens, mostly plastic and very light. My first impressions in the shop was that it was a considerably "brighter" lens than the 28-60mm (would not have expected that much difference between ƒ3.5 and ƒ4.5 minima, but there is a lot more glass on the new lens. It also has OSS.
It was a bright sunny (but cold) afternoon, so I took it for a ride.
As usual, I was pushing things to the extreme, shooting into the Sun to see how it worked.
Based on the results, I will now have to find a bigger bag for my gear!
ISO 100, ƒ10, various shutter speeds.
C&C welcome.

These are difficult scenes to capture well - the snow and clouds have very good detail. The lens is a keeper.
Top quality set, George! I have a Sony 24 - 70 lens and it is my "go to" landscape lens.
These shots are saying “keep it”.
Good shots with that lens Ours, I like the patterns in the snow you captured, particularly in the first one!

Thanks for looking in and for the positive comments. I agree, so much for this month's budget!
Nice to see that you are on my side... the wallet is still grumbling!

Thanks for looking in and for taking the time to comment. The stalks certainly added to the scene.
Looks like a winner - have fun with your new lens!
That lens likes you! A keeper.
... and I like the lens! Thanks for looking in and helping me to rationalize...

Well, that is a surprise! Thanks for looking in and for leaving a positive vibe.
I am in Kitchener... maybe we will come across each other on a photo shoot sometime.
Please stay safe.

Looks like a keeper. If it makes you happy when you use it, it sounds like a worthwhile use of your money.
