The Salmon Creek Trail "Turtle Pond" area usually hosts a half dozen or more Wood Duck pairs. They have been noticeably missing to date, both here and at the Game Reserve (although this morning I saw one pair there swimming with a pair of swans). Curiously, downstream there is a house with a yard that slopes to the slough there that harbors dozens of Wood Ducks (winter over)--hard to get to them from the water and I don't (yet) know the owners. So, I was pleased to see this pair and hope they use the Wood Duck nesting box near the pond again.
Such gorgeous critters. Nice captures.
They are beautiful ducks.
