Are those footprints on the pond?

Yes - probably people checking the thickness of the ice... don't think there were any suicides! Thanks for looking in.

Images --and how those images might be processed-- are always an individualistic thing. There isn't necessarily a 'right,' but if they're not considered, and more, if they're not somehow pre-conceived, there can sometimes be a 'wrong.' Not 'wrong' in the sense that they stray from whatever reality is (or may have been), but 'wrong' in the sense that the image(s) become merely images as opposed to images that somehow make something of a statement. Then again, maybe making a statement of some kind was not what you --the individual-- might've had in mind.

Images #5, 6 and 8 are the strongest images among the group. Could they have been stronger? That's an individualistic thing, and what you've presented is entirely up to you and your aesthetic. They're not how I'd have approached processing --not with anything approaching 'pop', but instead with deeper blacks and brightened lights-- them, but that's neither here nor there. What I suspect we'd both agree with would be the proposition that if we don't go look, we'll never find.

Thanks for looking in and for your thoughtful comments. Since this was likely to be one of the last days with these sort of conditions, I decided to stay with the view that was presented with the lighting levels that were present, resulting with a softer "look". Today the Sun is up again and we have had a bit of fresh snow, so I shall probably revisit the locations and see how the scenes present themselves. Generally I don't "push" the images too much (except some nights when I am feeling like really experimenting).

I totally love the images you present and appreciate your comments. Thanks again.

Nice set, I like your tree shots best, particularly 4, 6, 8 & 9, love the fine branch details in #9. For some of the verticals, I would have trimmed the excess top of sky, but that's just my own personal style, I don't like overly "long" portrait shots, they look unnatural to me. Well done Ours!

Thanks for looking and taking the time to comment. These are pretty much SOOC, and I probably was paying more attention to obtaining the most natural result while working with RawTherapee and Affinity (which I am currently learning). Based on your input I shall review the vertical shots. Thanks again for the input and the positive vibes.

Thanks for looking in and for taking the time to comment. Yes, I thought that, although we are now in meteorological Spring!

Thanks - that was my first guess, but I had never seen them around here before. I shall be on the lookout for them and try to get some closer shots.

Thanks for looking in and for taking the time to comment. The clouds and the Sun made for an interesting effect, I thought.

Very nice series - you captured the mood well!

Thanks for looking in and for the positive vibe. The flat overcast in some of the shots is interesting to work with.

These are really nice, George. I especially love 4 & 5. I think you have captured a gang of turkeys in the last shot.

Thanks for looking in and for taking the time to comment. Glad you liked the images. I had never seen turkeys around here before, so I had to ask!

Overcast day after rain washed away a lot of snow on the fields.
Decided to go out in the afternoon to see how the pond and some of the nearby fields looked.
Sony A7c, Sony FE 28-60mm and Nikkor 70-300mm both ƒ4.5-5.6. Light pp in Affinity Photo for a couple, others in RawTherapee followed with resize in ON1.
For the last shot, I would appreciate the bird ID... (I know - it's a terrible shot!) they were quite large birds this is at 300mm.
Please feel free to comment/critique.
Enjoy!

A great set. Portrays the cold, stark landscape very nicely.
