i hear the prices are over $3.60 a gallon, refinery troubles and switch over to winter gas are listed as the problem.
is anyone keeping track as to if there actual shortages at the pump?is the change in the weather there that great that the change over from winter to summer gas is that complicated or expensive? it's not michigan weather out there.

That price is normal here in NC...and what's the difference between summer gasoline and winter gasoline? Am I running summer gasoline when my car won't start on those cold winter mornings???

I would say that it's almost time to get a horse, but feeding the horse would be about as expensive as gasoline, if not more so, so even that option isn't feasible anymore.

And 4.60 a gallon sounds more like something to worry about. I already have to take at least half or more of my paycheck and earmark it for gasoline, and I travel less than 500 miles per month already. Maybe I'll learn to walk faster!!!

Petrol (gas) in the UK is about $11.30 per gallon and rising. I think you guys have a little catching up to do.

Last week my gas was 3.99. Yesterday it was 4.60, and I get the cheapest gas in town. Other stations are at 4.79.

LOL California has made its own bed... There is no real need for summer and winter blends and yes they do add to the cost of gasoline, it is mandated by the EPA and makes the Greenies happy.. The other big problem that they are facing in California is that our government will not allow the building of additional refineries, no matter that our consumption has grown over many years, the greenies just hate gas and the dems have conceded to them and have done everything that they can to block oil industry efforts to meet the needs of our nation... As far as I am concerned is that this big blue state deserves the results of their big blue policies and the representation that they keep sending to DC year in and year out.

Another easy solution which completely overlooks the problems. You have a talent for this Blurry - you might want to become a political consultant or a spin doctor. No new refineries have been built in the US since 1977. You claim this is due to "greenies" when in fact it's due to the Oil refineries wishing to have more way to control the price of gas ------ Now Blurry, when the oil rigs are stationed off the coast of Florida - in easy sight of tourists and locals alike AND your price at the pump keeps going up - whose fault will that be then?

You can blame the oil companies all you want but it is a fact that the democrats have fought oil for years now and continue to blame the large oil companies for all the many of our problems, much like that lying president of ours who keeps talking about the 4 billion dollar subsidy for big oil, when he knows that it is the same tax law that they use as for any other producer or manufacturer, but our president tries to tell the American people that somehow Big Oil is getting a special deal when that is simply a lie... Refining companies have tried to build new refineries and add capacity but those efforts have been blocked by the government and by the EPA, so you can join the president and lie to cover to try and hide the fact that the pain that California is currently experiencing has been directly caused by Democratic policy..... but no matter how much you try to deny it your denial will not change the truth.

Actually the problem is NOT switching from summer to winter blend they have a refinery down and since California uses a special blend NOT used in any other state they can not import gas from somewhere else.
They could wave the law for a few weeks and bring gas in but not sure the Greenies would allow that.
It was on national news that some stations were charging $4.99.9.
In many states like mine they will be switching to winter blend and prices will drop but nowhere near the $1.84 that it was when O Bamma took office.

Forget the price of gas - how much is your life worth??
Folks seem to have short memories or were not around 30 to 50 yrs ago when the SMOG what it was called - fowl air was like in the past and what it is like today even with massive population explosion of people, car, trucks, buses, & industry.
I can remember when it was seldom we could see across Oakland much less LA. They have taken many chemicals out of gas and added others in to help clean up the air and it is working and does cost $$ to do it.
Weather in CA in some areas does match Michigan - the Sierra Mnts. run 600 miles almost the full length of the state and the coastal ranges of NO CA get their share of incitement weather in winter also.
Yes - it is greed on the part of the big oil companies to grab many extra bucks when they get a chance at it.
No extra cost to them but a whole lot to us on the short end of the stick. $4.79 for reg here yesterday

I have to agree with you, "Yes - it is greed on the part of the big oil companies to grab many extra bucks when they get a chance at it."

It happens every time a refinery has to shutdown for a few days. Their tanks are full, ours are empty, so why not stick it to us?

GREED, GREED, GREED

Yep - If I knew ahead of time I had to close down production for a while I sure would make sure my storage was as full as I could get it beforehand. Planed maintenance takes lots of pre prep work.
I for one have not heard of any shortage in supply of crude leading up to now.
