How was the sumac part of it 
One of my MEastern students gave me a sealed package of sumac for cooking about five years ago. Never used it. Some of my Polish students gave me a bag of pine nuts, which taste just like Glade air freshener. And pudding, made by a novice cook - with way too much saffron added - tastes just like hand soap.
