I think it has something to do with the double entrance doors to segregate men from women and children. Since I’ve been searching for HRC’s I’ve photographed a few variations of double turrets but always with double entrances. I wish I knew more about this segregation custom, what the thinking was based on. It seems to have went out of vogue in churches built after the civil war. Thanks for having a look
