A few days ago I posted some photos of this juvenile bald eagle with his tail feathers heavily coated in ice. Here are a few more.

What an amazing sequence of photographs...thank you! David C.
I loved watching the "eagles" out on the Spit in Homer Alaska. There was a natural segregation where the adults
stayed in one area and the juvenile birds congregated in another. I never spotted one with iced over tail feathers,
I have to wonder if this is a common event? Anybody know? David C.
PS: There was a woman locals called the "Eagle Lady" she would feed the birds salmon, I wonder if she is still in the area? Some jokes going around were that she came from Connecticut to Homer for the Pizza!

These are awesome! I have had the pleasure of watching these guys fish but never have I seen an eagle with that much snow/ice on it's tail feathers....what an amazing thing to witness!

I have shown these photos to people around here who have been shooting eagles for many years. Nobody seems to have ever seen it before.

Wow, a lifetime chance to capture a unique sight and you did a really beautiful job of it!
These photos have it all. Clarity, motion and an interesting story. Awesome, and I don't use that word lightly.
