This is one of those fun photographs that is anchored in serendipity. The kitty Maggie was sunning herself in the garden where I was working with the model Alanya Jasso, a local woman in San Antonio. Maggie kitty is extremely nosy and moved into the lower frame of the camera. I adjusted the depth of field ring on the Leica R 28mm lens to cover the range of the scene. After the first shutter release I saw her rather odd expression change to this and released the second frame that you see here. What Cartier Bresson referred to as the decisive moment. Mirrorless cameras are much like the old range finder Leica camera as one sees just at the moment the shutter is released. This is critical to the 'seeing' that is the decisive moment.

The humor created by this typical 'cat' moment was pure delight and made the entire shoot worth the day. I showed the image to Alanya and she was purely delighted. She is a cat person like myself.

As always, no 'sharpening' in Photoshop, I love the textures of the garden as they appear through the lens. (though I would add that for all the 'but it's not sharp' crowed.)

Wow, you had it all. A woman without clothes, a cat, a CB moment, and tilted verticals. Amazing what happens when all that occurs at the same moment.

Love this shot! The foliage from the garden and the 'window' give it a fantasy look. It allows my mind to write all kinds of stories to this photograph.

Thanks! I love how this image worked out! Maggie is super cute! My Brother Steve's kitty who is visiting from New York for a while.

I was joking with him that Maggie might not want to go back to the East Coast. She and Bubble are getting use to each other and share the garden and the sacred roof area! Lately sunning togeather on the landing into the apartment where he is staying.

Spring is on the way.

VADA is suppose to be in this Sunday and I am hopping to have fun in the solarium and the garden, both are studios. I have some Hensel mono heads so those will be good to help.

By the way, I did use a soft box in with a Hensel head to balance the strong side sun in the above image. The Hensel mono heads are super in the garden and The Cedar Closet.

I put a Dyno-O-Lite box and two heads in the roof of the solarium that I sync to a slaved Hensel mono head in soft box/beauty dish when shooting in there.

I just got to get in and UNKLUTER that space! Always a bunch of busy, but some plants in there should make for fun. Thing is the two tall cactus plants (one is at 6 feet and the other at 8 foot) need to be 'toped' off and put into new potters/replant. Liz Ashley took a four footer in her pick up truck to her garden in Houston on her last visit. I hope to see her back in the Spring with some local photographers, she is such an adorable lady!

That is the garden as studio and I look forward to getting back to using it. My legs are recovering and I put some plants back out this morning as the rain began. We get two days of rain now. This Spring will be fun, as the freeze will knock down the mosquitos and the flies.

The great window frame seems to echo the feline theme.

Thanks for the insightful feed back.

The window design comes from an Italian design used in a Catholic monastery. The actual window it is modeled from is here in San Antonio in the Mission System. It has a vary feminine association with the idea of the rose that representing the female idea of the Catholic rose.

The 'window' is a to scale replica of the famous Rose Window of Mission San Jose here in San Antonio Texas. It was commissioned by some rich guy but never completed. The carpenter was a pot head and as he was leaving his studio next door I gave him $100 for the unfinished window. Nice guy but never got much done.

I had the window stored in the garage until one day I decided it would go well as part of facade of the garden's small work building. So that is how it came to be in the garden.

This spring I will be adding some new items to the garden that will be fun items for future shoots.

Some girls/ladies do seem to be pussycats. Nice photo representation of the actual cat and pussycat in the same photo.

Girls and cats! You'd think it would be girls and dogs, but then there is the Bubble!

I love working with this model Alanya Jasso. She sends me photographs, selfies, often naughty ones but the ones I love is like this one she sent with her new buddy Max.

I forward the image over to VADA the cat woman, who is in love with both Max and Alanya. Such fun!
