As I thought about symmetrical subjects, evergreen needles came to mind as a possibility. So I took a look at some evergreen trees, first a White Pine, which didn't really catch my eye. Next I walked over to a small Norway Spruce, saw it looked more interesting, and settled on the cluster I photographed.
I shot several handheld hoping to get a sharp one, and used manual focus to keep the branch tip in focus and prevent the autofocus from hunting.
The picture seems like it's one those that is more than the sum of its parts. There is nothing striking about it, yet the muted colors, sharp needle points, and blurred background seem to bring life and interest to the image.
I like the motivation to take more pictures that these challenges bring. A big thanks to those who host them.
