When I take a picture with my Nikon mirrorless camera the image is not available on the back of the EVF. I can access the pictures by using the arrow option on the back. My DSLR picture was available after taking the shot. I have been through the book and no mention of how to keep the picture for a longer period of time. Any ideas?...Thank You

Try scanning the PDF version of your manual for "playback" and / or "image review". These terms will take you to the pages and the controls for where, when and how long the most recent image is displayed on the back of the camera. If your camera was the Nikon Z6, page 121 of the Reference Manual begins to touch on these topics.

On my Sony there is a menu switch to turn this on or off. Check you menu it may be similar.

There is a menu option to display the shot afterwards. There’s also the little button up near the viewfinder that selects viewfinder, rear screen, or auto...but if you can see the image pre-exposure on the LCD the latter isn’t it. Without knowing which model it’s hard to tell the exact menu selection...

Thank you for all that gave me great advice and steered me in the right direction. The image review option was not enabled. All is right...thanks to all.

Since mirrorless cameras are not as battery friendly as a DSLR, I wouldn't enable the image review option unless you have a real need to look at every image.

Sounds perfectly normal. If you want it different the RTFM. PDF version is better cuz it’s searchable. You can find what you want in your menus without the FM but the PDF is good to have on hand.

I think we should note that many photographers deliberately turn off the automatic image review function when shooting rapidly evolving scenes, as most cameras offer a higher frame rate when the function is disabled.
